As a veteran with PTSD, and the daughter of a vet with PTSD, we are very guarded and careful about who we let in our lives and near our precious horses. I am very grateful we crossed paths with Marie. My daughter took to her instantly (very unusual) and our herd accepted her immediately. Those are very good indicators for me of a pure heart and golden intentions. As we worked together more and more, I saw firsthand that Marie had no personal agenda other than highest good for horses and people as we learn together.
I wholeheartedly appreciated her lack of ego, willingness to listen, and desire to share knowledge through demonstration. |
"My son and niece began working with Marie 8 years ago when he was 8. The kids were immediately at ease with Marie and her gentle way and with the horses. She worked with my son Gabe to help with his perfectionism, how to deal with his emotions and be forgiving of himself. Marie used her horses to help demonstrate the connection between him and the horses. Gabe performed exercises with the horses that helped demonstrate how “mistakes” could be made, and rather than looking at them as failures, they were learning experiences.

"I am not one to write testimonies on anything or anyone. However, when there is something that really made an impact to me, positive or negative, I will say something so that others can know about it too.
To start, Marie has been an absolute Godsend to me. There I was, back in the horse world after being gone from it for such a long time, and my horse just kicked me! My confidence was shattered and I was sad, frustrated, and lost. What am I supposed to do now?! |
"I was looking for a trainer that would come to Tamarack Ranch and work with me on what to do to provide Sassy more exercise. She is a boarded horse and I feel she needs more to do then spend every minute of everyday in her paddock. I was also feeling Sassy was pushing me around when I would do things with her. We have started with ground work and round pen training. Sassy is so much calmer. She knows everything we asked her to do, so really I'm the one in training. Sassy enjoys getting out and the activity. She wouldn’t walk through water, now she does. Marie is very quiet and loving with Sassy. I like her gentle training method. Our future goals are riding and trailer loading lessons." - Jennie

"Marie has extensive knowledge and experience with horses. She conveys this in humble and interesting ways, through stories and friendly conversation.
I felt very safe and confident in Marie’s abilities. Whether we were working with a traumatized horse, or she was helping me to ride a (large race) horse for the first time in several years. She was fun to work with, confident in herself, encouraging to me, all with a great sense of humor. Her love for both people and animals is obvious. I've seen her bring both emotional and physical healing to horses. I have received healing for some of the emotional issues I was going through at the time, as well as advancement in my own abilities." - Rob |
"I worked with Marie because she is kind, passionate, and knowledgeable. I knew I would feel comfortable in an intimate learning environment with her.
She answers questions without being condescending and explains new things in a way that's easy to understand. She provides peacefulness and healing to most people she encounters. I've gotten more in touch with my spiritual side and feel like I'm doing a better job of grounding myself and taking things in stride. With Marie, I feel like I've learned more about owning a horse in less than a year than I did going to school for 4 years! And there’s always laughter involved in lessons with Marie :)" -Emily |
"Working with Marie and the horses has created some of the most memorable moments for our family. Marie has that special ability to immediately bond with the kids, and she has a GREAT sense of humor! We have especially enjoyed learning how to communicate with the horses. Our kids have grown in their confidence, self-esteem, and ability to express their feelings. We are always looking forward to our next visit!" -Dave and Shari
